Candidate Statement:
(In response to the question, "Please explain why you believe you are qualified for the judicial position for which you are seeking election.")

I am well-qualified for a judicial seat on the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas by virtue of my lengthy and varied legal experience and life experience. I am an AV-rated attorney (by Martindale-Hubbell), a peer ranking signifying the highest level of professional excellence, legal ability, and ethical standards. Additionally, I have 42 years of primarily civil litigation experience, including much jury trial experience, in a variety of substantive areas, as well as eight years of experience handling hundreds of administrative hearings as a Hearing Examiner. I have significant experience serving as an arbitrator and mediator at the request of local courts and attorneys. I have experience representing defendants in criminal matters in both municipal courts and appellate courts.

I have also served my community and been a public servant since 2017 In the Ohio House of Representatives as a State Representative for House District 20 and House District 5. I was first appointed in 2017, then elected in 2018, and re-elected in 2020 and 2022. In the House I served for six years in Leadership as Assistant Minority Whip. I also served as Ranking Member on the Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, and Government Oversight Committees.

I have also served my community as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of Ohio Deferred Compensation, and as a gubernatorial appointee to Governor DeWine's Juvenile Justice Working Group, a task force examining ways to Improve the juvenile justice and corrections system in Ohio.

I am a member of the Canal Winchester Chamber of Commerce, the Canal Winchester Historical Society, and served for several years as President of the Canal Winchester High School Diamond Club, a booster and fundraising group for the varsity baseball team and baseball program.

I am committed to being an impartial arbiter of the facts with a judicious respect for the rule of law, legal precedent, and the people who will come before me in the courtroom, both parties and attorneys. I believe I possess the temperament, legal experience and knowledge, and life experiences that make me an ideal candidate for a judicial seat. I look forward to continuing my public service as a judge on the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
