Candidate Statement:
(In response to the question, "Please explain why you believe you are qualified for the judicial position for which you are seeking election.")
I have worked in the Franklin County Municipal Court for the past 29 years, the last nine years as a Judge. In my current role, I preside over criminal, traffic, and civil cases. I'm involved on various committees, including probation, technology, security, and personnel. I spend a large amount of my time ensuring various aspects of the criminal justice system are running effectively and efficiently. As a Judge I focus largely on ensuring people are connected to services, in addition to addressing the case that brought him or her to court. I have helped create the CAP IT program, the first in the world for defendants in the LGBTQQIA community and the medication assisted treatment program which provides counseling and Vivitrol to parties with addiction issues.
